Great Barrier Reef
The Great Barrier Reef is a bucket list for many and with several providers offering disability access with Out There Travel Care to be your travel companion you will be in great care and have the time of your life on the Great Barrier Reef.
Cairns Aquarium
Experience something amazing each time you visit the Cairns Aquarium, this informative aquarium where you can immerse yourself in the underwater world of the tropical fish that will blow your mind. You may be tempted to dine at Dundee’s Australian restaurant with the underwater world as your backdrop.
Kuranda Scenic Railway
Soak up a Jurassic Park-esque experience in one of the world’s oldest rainforests, framed by rugged mountains studded with waterfalls, on the Kuranda Scenic Railway. Or ride retired cane-sugar hauler the Bally Hooley, one of the very last steam locomotives used by the Mossman Sugar Mill, as it potters about Port Douglas. If the Balley Hooley is the quiet achiever, then the Savannahlander, the 1960s classic “silver bullet” railmotor, is the sleek star. Offering one of the great rail journeys of Australia, the four-day outback experience is a moving visual feast of pioneer settlement sites, cool swimming holes with sandy banks and weeping melaleucas.
Helicopter Flights
Over the Great Barrier Reef or perhaps take a picnic to a sand cay by Helicopter this is truly an experience that you will never forget with breath taking scenery of the Great Barrier Reef where you will certainly feel like a celebrity having your OTTC by your side. Rainforest Dome
Get an up-close look at the rainforest from the middle of Cairns at Cairns ZOOM and Wildlife Dome. This family-friendly attraction is home to Australian animals like koalas, snakes, tropical birds, and a saltwater crocodile. You can simply explore the park at your leisure or choose some of the many activities like a ropes course, zipline, dome climb and more. You also have the option to upgrade your admission to the 4 Park Pass if you want to visit other Cairns-area attractions like the Butterfly Sanctuary and Rainforest station.

Wildlife Experiences
Start at Kuranda Koala Gardens, where you can snap a shot of yourself holding a furry friend: a guaranteed Insta-hit. Stop in at the nearby Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, home to more than 2000 eye-catching butterflies, and Birdworld Kuranda, where the inhabitants include macaws, galahs and lorikeets. Then there is Rainforestation Nature Park, where you’ll find kangaroos, Tasmanian devils and saltwater and freshwater crocodiles.
In Port Douglas’ Wildlife Habitat, you can feed a kangaroo, enjoy Breakfast with the Birds, or take the Wildnight tour to see what really happens when nocturnal animals come out to play. Other great options include the Cairns Wildlife Dome, a 20m-high glass dome on top of the casino where you will find everything from turtles to parrots and pythons, and Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures, where more than 2km of boardwalks take you past a range of animal habitats, home to everything from crocodiles to cassowaries.

Skyrail
The Skyrail Cairns is located only 15 minutes north of Cairns offering one of the most unique gondola experiences as you are gliding meters over the rainforest canopy with views of Cairns city passing by the Barron Falls to arrive at Kuranda where you have the option to arrive back to Cairns by rail on the Kuranda Train.

Botanical Gardens
There is nothing more beautiful then a stroll through the Cairns Botanical Gardens with a large variety of plants, flowers, rainforest and ferns, there is also a butterfly house, and orchid green house. Why not take a well deserved break and have morning tea there. You will feel like you are truly on holidays once you have explored this botanic wonderland.
Cairns Esplanade
Ideal for a walk on the board walk, people watching and even a place to photograph the pelicans and bird life that call this their home, there are plenty of cafes and restaurants along the esplanade to choose from.
Palm Cove
Located 35 minutes south of Cairns this palm fringed beach is an ideal holiday to dip your toes in the water, with views out to Double Island they also have beach wheelchairs available for hire if required, bicycle hire, kayak and jet ski hire for the adventurer and plenty of restaurant .
Shopping
Cairns offers not only two major shopping hubs with Cairns Central featuring specialty stores and Myer, DFO for the bargain labels, there is also the Night Markets located on the Cairns esplanade, and for a taste of the tropics you must visit Rusty’s markets the largest local fruit and vegetable market where you are always going to taste something you haven’t seen before.

Some define the perfect holiday all about pampering so please ask your hotel or OTTC staff to offer some advice on where to be pampered from head to toe. Port Douglas Markets
Port Douglas Markets are located in a grassy park, right on the waterfront overlooking the Coral Sea. Vendors come from all over the Far North to sell their products to inquisitive tourists and Port Douglas locals. Here you'll find arts and crafts, jewellery, fruit and vegetables, glassware, books, coffee, boats, and more. The lazy Sunday morning is actually promoted here, in the idyllic setting of shady palm trees and warm, caressing ocean breezes blowing in from the sparkling ocean.

Visit the Cairns Art Gallery, a three-story public gallery in the heart of the CBD maintaining its original historical charm and displaying ever-evolving exhibitions from contemporary through to classic styles and offering a variety of classes for both adults and children. Then move on to KickArts, a cache of homewares, jewellery, fashion and artworks. Chic and cutting edge, it’s a strong person who walks out empty-handed. Find more contemporary works at the artist-owned Underart Gallery and an eclectic calendar of exhibitions at the Centre of Contemporary Arts Cairns.
Spa and Wellness
Wellness facilities and activities will have you feeling your best, too, whether it’s a simple massage at the markets or indulging at a day spa; spending a few days at a meditation or Ayurvedic retreat, or investing in a getaway focused on stress management. Of course, you can always just put on your swimmers, find a waterfall or swimming hole and let Mother Nature rejuvenate you.
